Gold Coast accommodation, Gold Coast hotels
After deciding to take my family for our first holiday in Gold Coast my wife and I couldn’t decide on which of the numerous Gold Coast hotels to stay in. The issue was probably exacerbated by the fact that this was the first real holiday we’d be taking our young son on, and we wanted to find the perfect spot.
The veritable plethora of available Gold Coast accommodation ranges from affordable and quaint to options that are quite extravagant and to be frank, quite out of our budget at that time. What we decided to do was not focus so much on the facilities versus price of the Gold Coast hotels we were considering, but rather on the proximity of the Gold Coast accommodations to local sites we wanted to visit.
Ultimately we decided which local attractions we wanted to see the most which were the Dreamworld & White Water World park, Sea World, and Wet’n’Wild Water World. Considering that we live in the middle of a desert these choices were far more desirable to us than other attractions such as the Warner Brothers Movie world or the Outback Spectacular. So after consulting a map, we were able to locate all the Gold Coast hotels we had been considering as well as their proximity to the attractions that had interested us. Not surprisingly, our previous choices that were based more on internet advertising were no longer our top choices.
Luckily finding a way from the Brisbane airport to our Gold Coast accommodation proved a lot simpler than choosing a Gold Coast hotel. We simply availed ourselves of the Airtrain which offers lifts to the Gold Coast every thirty minutes. The sheer magnificence of Australia’s natural beauty made the ride seem far too short, and both my son and I were actually quite keen to ride back to Brisbane and return just for the amazingly luscious views of the verdant countryside. My loving spouse however wasn’t exactly in the mood so we were off to our Gold Coast accommodation instead.
As much fun as we had at the attractions we planned to visit, we also had a blast golfing and were amazed by the wide variety of exotic birds that can be found in the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. We ended up filling up both of our camera’s memory cards with pictures before we knew it!
Sadly we didn’t know about the various cruises available in the region, but we are certainly planning on coming back in about two years. Next time we’ll bring more memory cards!
